A specialized set of symbols used to map out how every part of a company connects.
If UML is for building a single “room” (a piece of software), ArchiMate is for mapping out the entire city (the whole company). It uses simple shapes and colors to show how a business process (like “Taking an Order”) relies on an application (like “The Website”), which sits on a server (the “Hardware”). It helps leaders see how a change in one area will affect everything else.
